The final 12 point victory margin belies the difficulty of the game. With 37 seconds left in regulation time Alex Sprinzen sank two of his game high 11 free throws to give Summit a 55-51 lead and a seemingly comfortable two possession lead. Unfortunately, Hanover Park quickly scored and managed to get the ball back to score again at the buzzer. Both teams managed only 4 points in the first overtime. The second overtime started quite differently. Ryan Carey scored early and that was followed by a field goal by Dan Dugan. On Summit's next possession Chris Jones really dropped the hammer on HP with a big time 3-pointer to give Summit an 8 point advantage. Hanover Park was forced to start fouling in a desperate attempt to catch up. Sprizen went to the line six times and Carey four, they sank them all. In fact, Summit scored an amazing 21 points in the second 4 minute overtime. Carey and Sprinzen led Summit scoring with 23 points and helped fill the scoring gap left by the fact that Lamar Freeman was unable to play. Both had double digit rebounds. Dugan was close behind with 22 points. Summit's record advanced to 8-2, insuring Summit a slot in the State Tournament.
