Summit took on Plainfied for the 3rd time this season in the 1st round of the Union County Tournament. Summit took a nice 7 point lead at the half aided by 12 points from Kelly Osmulski and 8 points from Nicole Jonson. Johnson got into foul trouble spent much of the 2nd half on the bench.
Plainfield rallied in the 3rd quarter to close the gap to 4 points and made the Hilltopper fans a bit nervous. However, the final quarter began with Summit scoring the first 6 points, 2 by Kate Martino and 4 from Osmulski. That pushed the lead up to 10 points with only 3:30 left to play. The Summit fans began to relax a bit, but not for long. Plainfield reeled off the next 7 point to cut the lead with to 3 with 28 seconds remaining. When Summit went to inbound the ball against heavy pressure, Martino broke down court and was hit by a perfect long pass. She went for the layup, sank it and insured the victory.
Osmulski's game high 22 points left her needing 71 more points to make it to the 1000 mark.
