After a lackluster first half Summit's Women's basketball team fought back to
tie the game on a field goal by Missy Kellog with about 6 seconds to play.
Unfortunately, an off balance shot at the buzzer went in and West Essex pulled
out the win. It was the second buzzer heartbreak of the season for Summit.
Down 19 at the half, and showing no ability to stop WE's Wozniak and Dinallo
as they drove at will around our defenders, it looked pretty depressing.
The second half began with two field goals and a three by Danielle Proper.
That, combined with a pressure defense, changed the whole character of the
game. With about 4 minutes to play Summit pulled to within 5 at 51-46. With
a couple of minutes to play Missy Kellog hit 3 of 4 free throws to get it to
58-54. Following a free throw by WE, Erica Berger hit a 3 to get Summit to
within 2. A turnover gave Summit the ball with 26 sec to go. Missy Kellog
came through to tie, but it was not to be.
