Summit was behind 4-0 going into the last of the 4th inning and rallied to win 9-4. This broke a 3 game streak of 7th inning losses. Paul Krupa and Steve Bariexca shared the pitching duties. Krupa pitched the first 3 2/3 innings and Bariexca handled the final 3 1/3. Bariexca was credited with the win.
Summit picked up 3 unearned runs in the 4th inning. Matt Benedetti began the inning by beating out a single. Nick Monaco's ground out drove in Benedetti, Then with two out Bariexca kept the inning alive by getting on base via an error. A single by Krupa drove in another run. Chris Kaiser followed with another single and a walk to Rob Delgado loaded the bases. Mike Nelson drove in the 3rd run with the 2nd of his 3 singles. Benedetti started the 5th inning with a walk. A big double by Ryan Carey drove in the tieing run. With one out Bariexca hit a ground ball to the second baseman who threw to third trying to get Carey, but Carey was far too fast for him. Krupa drove in Carey when he grounded out. Successive singles by Kaiser, Delgado and Nelson resulted in 2 more runs and gave Summit a 7-4 lead. Summit added 2 more insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. For the 3rd inning in a row Benedetti led off, this time with another walk. He stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a Carey single and scored on a wild pitch. Following 2 outs, Krupa hit a towering triple driving in the final run of the game.
Summit faced GL's ace pitcher Andrew Gropper (3 wins - 1 loss) who had beaten Summit in their first meeting. This time it was a different story.
