For the third time in as many games Summit carried the lead into the final inning but failed to win the game. Summit lead 6-3 going into the last of the 7th and Matt Williams had pitched a 4 hit game through the first 6 innings. The fateful inning started with a walk to Millburn's #9 batter, always a bad sign. That brought the top of the order to bat. The next batter singled. A fielder's choice erased the runner at 1st base and left runners at 1st and 3rd with one out. A doubled drove in both runners to make it a 6-5 game. This brought the cleanup batter to the plate with the tieing run at 2nd. The batter drove a triple to right center field to tie the game and put the winning run on 3rd base. Coach Dietz signaled to intentionally walk the next two batters to load the bases and, presumably, provide for a force out at home or possibly a double play. The strategy backfired as the next batter was walked to force in the winning run.

Summit scored one run in the 2nd inning as Ryan Carey started the inning with a single and moved to 2nd on Paul Krupa's single. After Carey had stolen 3rd, he came home on a sacrifice fly by Chris Kaiser. Another run was added in the 3rd inning. Williams singled with two out , stole 2nd base and scored when the Millburn 2nd baseman bobbled Matt Benedetti's ground ball. Summit picked up 3 runs in the 5th inning on successive singles by Steve Bariexca, Rob Delgado and Mike Nelson, followed by a triple by Benedetti. The final Summit run came in the 6th inning. Bariexca started things with a single and stole 2nd base. A single by Williams drove him home.

In an oddity, no one on Summit was issued a walk and no one struck out.
