Matt Williams came through with a terrific pitching effort and picked up his 4th victory of the Season. Williams had a shutout going for 6 2/3 innings until a single unearned run crossed the plate with 2 out in the 7th inning. Williams gave up only 5 hits and 1 walk through the 7 innings.

Summit got their runs in bunches. Three runs got things started in the first inning. Mike Nelson started things with a single but was thrown out trying to steal 3rd base. After Williams walked, Matt Benedetti and Ryan Carey singled to load the bases. Nick Monaco doubled to clear the bases and it looked like things were going to be easy. Mt. Olives pitcher, Chuck Yarnold, had other ideas. Over the next four innings he shut down the Summit hitters with only a single hit. Remembering what had happened in the first Mt. Olive game, the fan were getting a bit uncomfortable. Things broke open in the 6th inning when Singles by Paul Krupa and Steve Bariexca were combined with a walk, 2 MO errors and a triple by Williams to produce 5 runs. The final blast of 7 runs came in the 7th inning. James Sivertsen got things rolling with a pinch hit single. That was followed by a pair of singles by Krupa and Chris Kaiser that produced one run. After Bariexca was hit by the pitcher, Mike Mormak brought home the second run with sacrifice fly. A walk to Nelson, singles by Williams and Benedetti, and a double by Carey resulted in 5 more runs.

The defense produced 2 sparkling double plays. The first was a classic 6-4-3 double play with Mormak making a great play to avoid a Mt Olive player intent on breaking up the double play. The second was started by a great pick up by Nelson of a hard hit ground ball down the middle. He stepped on 2nd base and rifled a shot to Kaiser at first.
