Parsippany brought the winning streak to an end. Parsippany brought a 12-3 record to the game and had significantly more base runners than Summit. In addition to out hitting Summit 10-8 they left nine on base compared to Summit's five. For the first time since before the winning streak began the defense's five errors really made the difference in the final score.
Parsippany jumped to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning but Summit answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Paul Krupa tripled with one out and was driven in by Chris Kaiser's single. A wild pitch and balk moved Kaiser to 3rd base and he came home on Steve Bariexca's ground out. Parsippany added two more runs in the 3rd, and Summit again closed the gap with 2 runs of their own. Mike Nelson began the inning with a walk and then stole 2nd and 3rd. In the game's scariest moment Matt Williams was hit in the jaw by a fastball. When he went to the bench to be checked out, it was clear that he was bleeding inside his mouth. Some gauze was placed in his cheek and it quickly became soaked in blood. Undeterred, Williams stayed in the game. Ryan Carey singled to score Nelson and stole 2nd and scored when a pick off try went astray.
Parsippany made it an 8-4 game in the 5th inning and yet again Summit climbed back into the game with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. With 2 out, Carey was walked and Monaco singled. Krupa doubled (his second extra base hit) to drive in both runners. Summit was unable to muster any scoring threat in the final two innings.
