Summit put on a furious rally in the 3rd quarter and then hung on to win the Suburban Classic Tournament. For most of the 1st half Chatham clearly had the upper hand. Chatham was moving better without the ball and Summit was struggling to get any rebounds. In fact Summit managed only 7 rebounds in the entire 1st half. In spite of that Summit was only down 4 points at the half. The 3rd quarter was a complete turnaround. Summit ran off the first 12 points to gain a 39-31 lead. Chatham regained their composure and scored the next 6 points, but a Ryan Carey free throw, a 3-pointer by Dan Dugan and a pair of free throws by Chris Jones brought the quarter to an end with Summit having a 9 point lead (46-37). Summit pulled down 8 rebounds in the quarter, exceeding their production in the entire 1st half. Summit moved to an 11 point lead on field goals by Carey and Alex Sprinzen. Chatham fought back and made the score 52-49 with 2 minutes left. A great assist from Jones led to a Lamar Freeman basket. Two free throws by Chatham closed the gap to 54-51. With 9 seconds left, Carey sank a pair of free throws to put the game away.
