Dan Dugan had a hot hand in the 1st quarter and contributed 9 of Summit's 19 points. Good defense held the Hornets to only 3 points in the quarter. Hanover park has too many fine shooters to believe that the 1st quarter trend could continue, and it didn't. Summit was outscored 20-15 in the second quarter, but still had an 11 point lead at the half. Ryan Carey and Lamar Freeman caught fire in the 3rd quarter and scored 10 and 9 points respectively. They helped Summit to a 16 point advantage entering the final 8 minutes. The bench was cleared in the final minutes and Mike Mormak drew a big cheer as he scored the final points of the game on a fast break layup.
Carey again led the scoring with 23 points with Freeman and Dugan close behind with 17 and 14 point respectively. Alex Sprinzen led the rebounding with nine. Carey and Sprinzen continued their excellent free throw shooting. Each were 5 for 5 at the line.
