Summit blew this game open in the first quarter when they built a 21 point lead. The burst of scoring was fueled by Ryan Carey's 11 points. Every starter contributed points to that big quarter. However, the trapping defense applied by Summit was just as important in frustrating Morris Hills and leading to many turnovers. The pace slowed in the 2nd quarter, but Summit left the court leading 34-17. Alex Sprinzen scored 10 of his 12 points in the 1st half.
The second half was played even as Summit freely substituted. Summit hit on 24 of 50 shots, or 48%. The game was punctuated with many fouls. Summit went to the line 31 times and Morris Hills 25 times. 41 total points were made from the free throw line. |
