Summit dominated the 1st quarter and it looked like it might be an easy victory. Every starter contributed at least 2 points as the lead was 15-10. Summit seemed to have complete control of the rebounding at both ends of the court. Unfortunately New Providence didn't get the message and they closed the gap to 2 points at the half after Summit had been momentarily ahead by 8 points. The 2nd half got off to a great start as Summit opened with a pair of 3s from Chris Jones and Dan Dugan to get the lead back to eight. But again, Summit was outscored 7-2 for the rest of the quarter. Each time it looked like Summit might put them away New providence bounced back. It appeared that Summit was the more talented team, but NP offense seem to be able to better advantage of what talent they possessed. Late in the 3rd quarter NP managed to get to within 1 point, 32-31.

The 4th quarter began with Summit holding a 3 point lead and that lead persisted until about half way through the quarter when Ryan Carey sank two free throws to give Summit some breathing room. NP answered with a field goal and 2 free throws and it was back to 43-42. Carey was fouled on the next possession but the shot went down and so did the free throw. Alex Sprinzen then scored to make it 48-42 with about 90 seconds remaining. But NP cut that lead to 3 points with a 3-pointer from the corner. NP now needed to put Summit at the foul line, but they picked the wrong guy as Lamar Freeman sank 4 free throws in a row to pretty much put the game out of reach. Dan Dugan sank the final 2 free throws of the game.

Dugan had a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, four of them in the crucial 4th quarter. Carey was 2nd in scoring with 15 and Freeman was second in the rebounding with nine. Summit continued its solid free throw shooting, hitting 10 of 13.
