If you just looked at the final score you wouldn't realize how close this game was. Weequahic came into this game undefeated (5-0) and ranked in the top 20 in the state, But Summit gave them a great battle. With just a couple of minutes left in the game summit was down 57 - 59 and had the ball. If it weren't for a couple of lucky offensive rebounds by Weequahic and a pair of errant Summit shots down the stretch the outcome might have been different. The three point shot helped Summit stay with a very fast Weequahic squad. Through the 3rd quarter Dan Dugan had drained 4 and Ryan Carey 2 from outside the 3 point line. Mid-way through the 4th quarter Chris Jones added another. At that time, his 3-pointer brought Summit to within one point (51-52).
Carey and Dugan led the scoring with 17 and 16 points respectively. Summit hit 21 of 41 shots from the field and continued the good free throw shooting with 8 of 9.
