Summit was forced to play catch up all night. In the end they failed to take advantage of some opportunities to grab the lead. Scotch Plains started with an 11-2 run and for a bit it looked like was going to be a blow out. Fortunately, Summit out scored Scotch Plains 8-2 in the final few minutes of the quarter to pull within 3 points. The 8-2 run was led by Ashley Holmes who connected on 4 consecutive free throws. In the 2nd quarter the score was tied at 15 and again at 19 but Scotch Plains played out the half with a 10-2 spurt to leave again Summit behind 29-21
Karen Jann opened the 2nd half by making two successive steals that led to lay ups and a free throw. On the next Scotch Plains possession Liz Sheridan forced another turnover that led to Jann's third lay up. Following a Scotch Plains Time out Jann managed another field goal to give Summit its only lead of the night, 30-29. Again, Scotch Plains regained its composure and ran off the next 11 points, putting Summit in a 10 point hole. Yet one more time Summit rallied. A FG by Sasha Orenzack, two free throws by Holmes, a FG by Jann and a FG by Holmes brought Summit back to within two points (40-38). Alas, it was not to be and Scotch Plains moved on to the next round of the UCT.
