Matt Williams and Steve Bariexca combined to easily beat Dayton. Williams pitched the 1st 5 innings with Bariexca going the final two. Except for a very shaky 1st inning, where Dayton picked up it's only run on 2 walks, a hit batsman, and an infield error, Williams and Bariexca were almost perfect. Over the final 6 innings they allowed only a single base runner and he was cut down trying to steal 2nd base.
Summit's 1st run came in the 1st inning. Bariexca drew a lead off walk, stole 2nd, went to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on Jeff Della Piazza's sacrifice fly. Another run came in the 2nd inning. Mike Mormak got on base via a fielder's choice, stole second and came home on a error by the Dayton shortstop. Two more runs were added in the 5th inning. Williams led off being walked, Paul Krupa singled and Jeff Johnson loaded the bases on another Dayton error. Nick Monaco's single drove in one run and another came home when the right fielder dropped Mormak's fly ball. The final three Summit runs came in the 6th inning. Bariexca started the inning with a single and stole 2nd base. After 2 outs, Krupa singled to score Bariexca. A single by Johnson and a walk to Monaco loaded the bases. An error by the 1st baseman allowed two more runs to score.
Matt Williams got the win and moved to 6-3 with an ERA of 2.66, Steve Bariexca is 5-2 with an ERA of 2.82
