Summit's 6 game winning streak ended in a 10 inning marathon. In spite of being out hit 15-7 Summit was in a position to win the game in the bottom of the 9th inning. With the game tied 6-6, Matt Williams led off the inning with a single and moved to 2nd. Paul Krupa was walked with 1 out. Nick Monaco then hit a line drive that was grabbed by the 2nd baseman who threw to 1st to double off the runner and end the threat.

Summit held a 3-2 lead into the 6th inning when Hanover Park managed 4 runs off 4 hits and a walk. Unfortunately, the final 2 hits were a double and a base clearing triple. Summit came back to tie the score in the bottom of the inning. Jeff Della Piazza started things off with a triple and scored on Jeff Johnson's ground ball to 2nd. After Mike Mormak was hit by a pitch Evan Cheng hit into a fielder's choice. With 2 outs Kevin MacNeil was walked to keep our hopes alive. Williams singled to drive in the 2nd run and move MacNeil to 3rd. Williams tried to steal 2nd base, but left before the pitcher had thrown the ball. The Pitcher whirled and had Williams dead but he threw the ball over the second baseman's head into center field allowing MacNeil to scamper home with the tieing run.

After the 6th inning Steve Bariexca settled down and pitched scoreless, 1 hit, ball through the 9th inning. However, he had thrown 120 pitches and had to be rested. Jeff Johnson came on in relief. Johnson was charged with the loss and 4 runs although all the runs were unearned. The inning began with a solid double. MacNeil made a nice catch in Right Field for the 1st out. The next batter hit a ground ball to short but the pickup was muffed and now runners were at 1st and 3rd. The next batter hit a sinking fly ball to center, Williams got to the ball but it inexplicably popped out of his glove. Things went down hill from there and Summit couldn't recover.
