Summit extended its winning streak to 6 games behind the outstanding 3-hit pitching of Matt Williams and solid hitting by the team. The only run the Mt Olive scored was unearned. Summit scored in the first inning on a pair of singles by Steve Bariexca and Jeff Della Piazza. Another run was added in the 2nd inning as the result of back-to-back doubles by Bariexca and Paul Krupa. As things would turn out that would be all the runs Summit would need. Summit picked up run number 3 (unearned) in the 4th inning. Mike Mormak led off with a single and took 2nd base when Evan Cheng was walked. He eventually scored when the shortstop made a throwing error on a Ben Torres' ground ball. The final Summit run resulted from singles by Krupa and Jeff Johnson, with a nice sacrifice bunt by Nick Monaco sandwiched in between.
Coach Dietz made a defensive move by swapping Mormak and Cheng from their usual defensive positions. It paid off as Mormak made three sparkling defensive plays at shortstop, including an important 6-3 double play. Summit's bats started slowly this season, but now the team has a nice .350 average.
