Matt Williams pitched 6 good innings and Paul Krupa came on in relief to get the save. Parsippany started the second inning with 3 sharp singles that produced a run and had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Williams rose to the occasion and shut the door by striking out the next three batters. Again in the 3rd inning Parsippany loaded the bases with one out, but Williams hung tough striking out the next batter and getting a fly ball to center to end the threat.

Summit took a 3-1 lead in the third when Ben Torres and Williams hit back-to-back doubles producing one run. Steve Bariexca singled to move Williams to third and then stole 2nd base. Nick Monaco's sacrifice fly produced the 2nd run and moved Bariexca to 3rd. He eventually scored on a wild pitch. Summit's 5th inning began with doubles by Williams and Krupa driving in 1 run. Monaco singled and Jeff Della Piazza singled to score Krupa. It looked like a big inning was brewing, but on the ensuing single by Jeff Johnson the pinch runner on 2nd base ran through the stop signal by the 3rd base coach and was run down for out number two. The runner who had advanced to 2nd base hesitated but then tried to move to 3rd base during the rundown. Unfortunately he was thrown out at 3rd and the rally was nipped in the bud.

The final excitement came in the top of the 7th inning. The leadoff batter was walked and Krupa was brought in relief. He got the next batter to fly out, but a walk and a single made the score 5-3 and put the tieing runs on base. A successful double steal moved both runners into scoring position with only one out. The count went to 3 and 2 on the next batter, who then fouled off a couple of pitches before Krupa struck him out swinging. Krupa struck out the next batter to seal the victory.
