This was one of the best played games of the season. Steve Bariexca and Matt Williams combined to pitch a 7 hit shutout. The offensive hero of the game was Evan Cheng. After Mike Mormak had gotten on base by drawing a walk (one of only two given up by Parsippany's Grasso) to start the 5th inning Cheng hit a home run over the left field fence to provide the only runs of the game. Credit should also go to Parsippany's Grasso. He also pitched a 7 hitter. The only real difference was the Cheng home run.

Bareixca had to dig deep in the first two innings. In each inning Parsippany had runners in scoring position with no outs. In each case Steve rose to the occasion and pitched out of the inning without allowing anyone to cross the plate. It was a masterful performance. Matt Williams, recovering from a leg injury in the Morris Hills game, pitched the final two innings and did a great job. Bariexca and Williams were used in this way to allow both to be eligible to pitch in the Union County game against Plainfield on Saturday (check the state pitching rules on the pitcher's page of statisics).

Both teams played error free baseball, both had 7 hits, between both team's pitchers only 3 walks were given up and one team stranded 6 runners and the other only 7. How close can it get?

Bariexca got credit for the win and his record is now 4-1 with an ERA 2.63. Williams is also 4-1 with an ERA of 2.19.
