They out hit Summit 12 to 5 and played error free baseball. By contrast Summit committed 3 errors and failed to make some key plays that would have made a difference. Plainfield had runners in scoring position in every inning and carried an 7-0 lead into the last of the seventh inning. Through the first 6 innings Summit managed only 3 hits off Ortiz, Plainfield's lefty who couldn't have been much over 5 ft. in height.
Summit's runs came with 2 outs in the 7th with the game pretty much out of reach. Kevin McNeil drew a 2 out walk, Matt Williams tripled to drive in McNeil and Steve Bariexca singled to score Williams.
Matt Williams' record is now 4-2 with an ERA of 3.05
