A game against Weequahic has always been considered a safe victory and a chance to fatten the batting averages. However, things may be starting to change. The quality of Weequahic's play is definitely improving. Duran, their pitcher, had only one bad inning where Summit picked up 9 runs. For the other 4 innings that he pitched he gave up only 3 runs on 7 hits. In the past extra base hit have been easy to get, but today 14 of Summit's 15 hits were singles. Mike Mormak, who was moved to the leadoff position to sub for the missing Matt Williams, had a big day. He went 3 for 3 and picked up Summit's only extra base hit, a triple.

Sophomore Jeff Johnson got his first varsity pitching start and did a terrific job. Over the 5 innings he gave up only 1 hit and 1 unearned run.
