Steve Bariexca threw an excellent 5 hitter at West Essex and Suumit's record went to 8-3, while West Essex fell to 5-5. In the first inning it didn't look so great for Bariexca as he was tagged for 4 hits an 2 runs. What's more, three of the 4 hits were very solid blows. However, he seemed like a new man starting in the 2nd inning. From that point on he allowed only 1 hit and no runs. For the game he gave up only 2 walks and struck out 7.
Summit knotted the score a 2-2 in their half of the 1st inning. Bariexca started it off with a single and Paul Krupa drove him in with a deep double to right center field. Krupa, in turn came home when Paul Johnson tripled. Summit got the go ahead runs in the 5th inning. Krupa tripled with one out and Jeff Della Piazza drove him in with a single. Johnson moved Della Piazza to 3rd on a single and Nick Monaco drove in the run with another single. Summit got an insurance run in the 6th inning when Matt Williams started the inning with a single. He stole 2nd base and moved to 3rd on a passed ball. He subsequently scored when the West Essex pitcher balked.
Bareixca's record is now 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA.
