High winds gave Paul Krupa fits in the early innings. During the first 3 innings West Essex scored 5 runs on 6 hits. In the final 3 innings West Essex was scoreless on 1 hit. However, Summit was unable to get any of their 6 hits when there were runners in scoring position. As a result we stranded 12 runners. Summit's only run came in the 2nd inning when Jeff Della Piazza and Mike Mormak beat out an infield ground ball to put Della Piazza in scoring position and he eventually scored on a throwing error by their 2nd baseman.
Summit had a mini threat in the 7th inning when Krupa and Matt Williams singled, but they just became two more stranded runners.
