Late in the 1st half Dover drove 75 yards for an apparent score but on the final TD play Dover had an ineligible player down field and the TD was nullified. At the beginning of the 2nd half Dover picked up where it had left off, as they drove 61 yards to set up a 26 yard Field Goal that closed the gap to 7-3. On the next series Summit made its only penetration into Dover Territory when J.P. Coviello caught a pass on the Dover 46. However, a fumble turned the ball over at that point. On Dover's next play they ran the ball to the Summit 3 yard line. Matt Williams came from a long distance to overtake the Dover speedster and save an immediate TD. However, Dover punched it in on the next play to take a 10-7 lead.
The 4th quarter was a study in frustration as Dover's punting game repeatedly pinned Summit deep in their own territory, at the 11, 5 and 10 yard lines respectively. Knowing the Summit had to pass, Dover put on a heavy rush that resulted in three sacks and innumerable scrambles on Schroeder's part. To the credit of the defense, they repeatedly held Dover in the 4th quarter without allowing them a single 1st down.
