Summit put on a great 2nd half rally after being down 14-0 early in the 3rd quarter. A pair of Summit drives that went 67 and 80 yards tied the game at 14-14 with about 5 minutes remaining in the game. Summit forced Hanover Park to punt with a little over 3 minutes remaining. However, Summit failed to move the ball for a 1st down and HP took over on their 44 yard line with about 2 minutes on the clock and all their time outs. Hanover Park took to the air and completed 3 of 4 attempts to give them a first down on Summit's 20. With 3rd and 8 from the 18 they broke a run to the Summit 1 yard line. Hanover Park scored their first TD after recovering a Summit fumble on the Summit 29 yard line. Six running plays later they were in the end zone. Summit mounted only one drive in the 1st half. After Matt Williams had returned a punt 28 yards to midfield, passes to Brad Dolny and Rob Schroeder gave Summit a first down on the Hanover Park 24 yard line. With 4th down on the the 22 Keith Schroeder tried a 40 yard field goal into the wind and it fell short.

The 2nd half began badly when Hanover Park took the opening kickoff and returned it 93 yards for their 2nd TD. One might have expected that Summit would let down at this point, but they didn't. Williams returned the kickoff to Summit's 33 and the drive began. The key plays were a 9 yard pass to Chris Dean that gave Summit a 1st down at their 49. Two consecutive passes to JP Coviello covered 16 and 36 yards respectively and made the score 14-7. Hanover Park was not to be out done as they went from their 35 to the Summit 11 where they tried a field goal. Fortunately it was wide and Summit took the ball on the their 20 yard line. Runs by Dolny and Schroeder picked up a 1st down on the 30. Passes to Jeff Della Piazza and Williams resulted in another 1st down at mid-field. Runs by Dolny and an 11 yard pass to Coviello yielded a 1st down the 35. A nice catch by Williams got the ball to the Hanover Park 24. Dolny took it to the 19 and Dean took a pass and was stopped on the 1 foot line. From there Schroeder took it in for the score. Schroeder kicked his second extea point to knot the score at 14 all.

The expectation is that Summit will have a rematch with West Essex, at West Essex, next Saturday in a the 1st round of the State Tournament.
