s, with Marquis White covering the final 3 yards. The key plays in the drive were a 10 yard gain by White and 27 yard screen pass from Keith Schroeder to Nick Monaco. On Weequahic's second play after the kick-off they coughed up the ball and Steve Nye recovered in mid-air and ran the ball to the Weequahic 5 yard line. Three plays later JP Coviello caught a Schroeder pass to put Summit up 14-0. Fortune continued to smile on the Hilltoppers when, after the next Weequahic series, Matt Williams ran back a punt 34 yards to the Weequahic 6 yard line. Two plays later Monaco bulled his way in from the 1 yard line. Suddenly in the space of about 6 minutes Summit had put 21 points on the scoreboard and seemed to have the game under control.

The 2nd half appeared to be more of the same when Williams returned a punt to the Weequahic 42 yard line. Five plays, and a Weequahic penalty, later Schroeder made good on a one yard QB sneak. The kick was wide, but Summit appeared to be in an unassailable position. However, at that point the game turned completely around. After the kick off Weequahic found itself with a 3rd and long from their own 10 yard line. A 19 yard pass gave them a 1st down and a 71 yard pass on the next play scored Weequahic's 1st TD. The attempt at a 2-point conversion failed and Summit breathed a little easier as the 3rd quarter ended 27-6.

The final quarter was a bit of a nightmare. Summit's only punt of the game went only 13 yards from scrimmage and gave Weequahic the ball their 45 yard line. Four play later, an 18 yard pass closed the gap to 27-14. On Summit's next series they were moving the ball reasonably well when Weequahic recovered a Summit fumble on their 45 yard line. Two passes, sandwiched around a 15 yard penalty against Weequahic, put the ball on Summit's 27 yard line. A 21 yard run gave them a 1st down on the 6. On 4th and 4 Weequahic's QB was tackled on the 6 inch line, averting a TD that would have closed the lead to as little as 5 points. Summit took over on the half-foot line. After three rushes up the middle Summit would have faced a 4th down punting situation on the 9 yard line except that apparently a Weequahic player mouthed off to an official about the previous call at the 6 inch line. The resulting 15 yard penalty gave Summit a first down, avoided the punt and allowed Summit to run out the remaining time on the clock.

Weequahic had the advantage in the yardage stats, but was called for 84 penalty yards to Summit's 5 yards.
