Summit's offense has relied heavily on the scoring power of Dan Dugan and Alex Sprinzen. Between them they have averaged 37 points per game. Against Parsippany Sprinzen got into early foul trouble and spent a lot of time on the bench and Dugan suffered through a bad shooting night. The result was only 13 points from the pair. Fortunately the rest of the team stepped up to fill the scoring gap. Dwayne Reid led all scorers with 20 points and everyone contributed significantly.
Parsippany led 16-15 at the end of the 1st quarter, but Summit rallied to lead 32-29 at the half. Eleven of Summit's 17 2nd quarter points came from the Reid brothers, Dwayne with 4 and Dwight with 7. The 3rd quarter ended with Summit increasing its lead to 7 points with the scoring spread over 6 different players. At the beginning of the final quarter a basket by Tony Johnson and a pair of 3 pointers by Dwayne Reid gave Summit a 9 point advantage at 58-49. But Parsippany ran off the next 6 points to make it a 3 point game with 30 second left on the clock. Another basket by Dwayne Reid and a pair of foul shots by Dugan made the victory secure.
