The most significant games of the season are those against Mendham and Weequahic. A week ago Summit hosted Mendham in the most exciting game of the season, up until tonight. As last week, there was a large vocal crowd and they sure got their money's worth. With 15 seconds left in the game Dan Dugan hit a 3 point field goal to move Summit to within one point (70-69). A quick foul put Weequahic on the foul line with 13 seconds remaining. Weequahic missed the front end of the one-and-one and Summit had one more chance to score. Dugan drove the baseline for a shot in hopes of drawing a foul in case the ball didn't go down. Unfortunately, neither came true. A desperation foul by Summit resulted in 2 more points for Weequahic and the clock ran out.

Summit kept the game close in the 1st half with the help of 16 points from Alex Sprinzen, but left the court down 42-36. Summit pulled even at 57 shortly before the end of the 3rd quarter. Most of the quarter's scoring was provided by Dugan and Sprinzen with 9 and 8 points respectively. However, just before the end of the quarter Dwayne Reid hit 2 free throws to give Summit a 59-57 lead entering the final quarter.

Weequahic quickly tied the score. A field goal and a free throw by Dugan gave Summit a 3 point advantage. Weequahic regained a 1 point lead but Sprizen's goal put Summit back on top 64-63. A 5-0 run by Weequahic was countered by another Dugan field goal, and the score stood at 68-66 with only 33 seconds remaining. Summit was forced to foul and Weequahic drained both shots to make the score 70-66 and set up the dramatic finish.

Dugan led all scorers with 27 points and Sprinzen was close behind with 26 (Sprinzen scored on 8 of his 9 first half shots.) Matt Audibert led the Summit rebounding with six.
