Tue 12/04 8:30pRidge @War H Won 4-3  This was a barn burner. Eric Lupton scored in the first period with asissts from Kyle Kramer and Mike Tammaro. Ridge tied the game (1-1) after one period. In the 2nd period Keith Schroeder deflected in Jim Hatfield's slapshot and the period ended in a 2-2 tie. Ridge took a 3-2 lead in the 3rd but Rob Schroeder's slap shot goal with 3:13 left tied the game. Mike Tammaro scored an unassisted power play goal with 17.8 seconds left in the game for a Summit victory. Dan Churchill made 12 saves in the net for Summit.
Tue 12/11 6PMCron Tourn (vs Ramapo) Quarter Finals Won 8-4 Matt Starker started the scoring at :34 seconds of the first period and ended the scoring at 11:49 of the third period on his way to setting a new Summit High School single game record by scoring 6 goals. Max Tcheyan added the other two goals for the Hilltoppers. Keith Schroeder and Craig Oliver each had three assists and Kyle Kramer assisted on both of Tcheyan's goals. Dan Churchill and Kyle Hartlaub combined for 29 saves.
Sat 12/15 6:45pMontclair@Mt.Arena A Won 2-1 Keith Schroeder scored on a assist from Matt Starker in the first period. After Montclair tied the game Schroeder returned the favor assisting on Starker's game winning goal in the third period. Kyle Hartlaub earned his first varsity victory by stopping 35 of 36 shots.

Lost 3-2 West Essex scored a power play goal to cap a three goal third period to defeat Summit in the second round of the Cron Tournament. Kyle Kramer scored both Summit goals with assists from Rob Schroeder, Mike Tammaro and Jim Hatfield. Kyle Hartlaub stopped 17 shots in the net.

Old Bridge
Won 4-3 (OT) Summit rebounded from their semifinal loss to clinch third place in the Cron Tournament with a 4-3 overtime victory over Old Bridge. Keith Schroeder scored the deciding goal in a sudden death overtime shootout after Craig Oliver and Rob Schroeder scored in the first shootout round. Kyle Hartlaub stopped 5 of 7 shootout attempts to keep Summit in position for the win. Keith Schroeder, Mike Tammaro and Craig Oliver scored during regulation time and Schroeder and Matt Starker both chipped in with two assists.
Sun 12/23 1015AM Dayton H Won 8-3 After a scoreless first period Summmit's senior first line combined for 8 goals in the final two periods to secure the win. Keith Schroeder (4), Matt Starker (3) and Craig Oliver (1) scored the goals with assists from Jim Hatfield (2), Eric Lupton (2) and Mike Tammaro. Dan Churchill stopped 11 shots in the net.
Wed 12/26 8:30pWestfield @ H Won 5-2 Summit exploded for four third period goals to secure the win. Craig Oliver scored in the first period but at the second period intermission the score was tied at one. Eric Lupton scored on a slap shot at 2:11 of the third period and 50 seconds later Matt Starker knocked in a rebound to give the Hilltoppers a two goal lead. Ned Hillenbrand then scored his first career goal on a long wrist shot and Mike Tammaro capped the scoring on a deflection. Doug Kramer and Ken Bogden both collected two assists and Kyle Hartlaub was strong in the net.

Tue 01/08 8:30pMontclair@ War H Lost 5-2 Summit trailed by a score of 4-0 after two periods but came out on fire in the third period. Matt Starker scored two goals on assists from Keith Schroeder and Craig Oliver to close the gap to 4-2 before Montclair tallied their fifth goal to secure the win. Kyle Hartlaub made 22 saves in the net for Summit.
Thu 01/10 5:00pMorristown Beard A Lost 3-2 Summit trailed 3-0 after the first period but staged a ferocious comeback which just fell short. Keith Schroeder scored off a pass from Matt Starker and Rob Schroeder nailed a power play slap shot on a setup from Craig Oliver to make the score 3-2 after two periods. The teams played a scoreless third period but Summit dominated play in a valiant effort to get the tying goal. The Hilltoppers outshot their opponent 26-16 but in the final two periods it was 20-8. Kyle Hartlaub made several key saves in the final two periods to keep the game within reach. 
Tue 01/15 8:30pClifton @ War H Lost 4-3 Summit outshot Clifton 25-14 but could not get the equalizer during a furious rally at the end of the game with the goalie on the bench and a sixth skater on the ice. Second period goals by Keith Schroeder, Doug Kramer and Rob Schroeder accounted for the Summit offense. 
Fri 01/18 7:15pBridgewater A Won 7-2 Summit snapped a four game losing streak with an offensive explosion. The senior line of Matt Starker, Keith Schroeder and Craig Oliver spearheaded the attack. Starker had two goals and four assists, Schroeder had one goal and three assists and Oliver had two goals and two assists. Rob Schroeder and Mike Tammaro had the other Summit goals. Kyle Hartlaub had another strong game in the net for the Hilltoppers.
Sat 01/19 6:00pWest Essex A Won 6-1 Summit controlled the game the entire way leading 3-0 after one period and 4-1 after two periods and outshooting West Essex 29-13. Matt Starker lead the offense with two goals and two assists. Rob Schroeder had two goals to go along with one assist and Keith Schroeder had a goal and two assists. Craig Oliver chipped in one goal and one assist to cap the Summit scoring. Kyle Hartlaub and Dan Churchill combined for 12 saves in the net. 
Thu 01/24 8:15pSt. Peters Prep A Lost 6-3 Despite outshooting their opponent 32-24 Summit fell 6-3. Matt Starker, Keith Schroeder and Rob Schroeder scored for the Hilltoppers.
Fri 01/25 7:00pClifton @ Floyd Hall A Won 5-4 Matt Starker scored with 1:22 left in the game to cap the Summit comeback. Summit trailed 4-2 mid way through the second but rallied with one goal in the second period and two in the third to secure the win. Keith Schroeder, Kyle Kramer, Ken Bogden and Craig Oliver were the other Summit goal scorers. Kyle Hartlaub stopped 20 shots in the net. 
Tue 01/29 8:30pBayonne @ War H Won 7-1 Summit dominated all three periods to hand Bayonne its first loss of the year. Craig Oliver recorded his first career hat trick to lead the Summit attack. Matt Starker connected for two goals and an assist while Keith Schroeder had a goal and three assists. Kyle Kramer rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist. Kyle Hartlaub lost his bid for his first shutout when Bayonne scored a power play goal in the third but stayed strong stopping a total of 14 shots for the win.
Thu 01/31 3:30pWestfield @ War H Won 10- 0 Dan Churchill stopped 14 shots on his way to recording his first career shutout and Colin Campbell scored his first varsity goal as Summit rolled to victory. Matt Starker had a hat trick and Keith Schroeder netted two goals for the Hilltoppers. Single goal scorers included Craig Oliver, Kyle Kramer, Mike Tammaro and Ken Bogden. Schroeder and Kramer each added three assists while Starker and Tammaro chipped in with two helpers apiece. 
Tue 02/05 8:30pBridgewater @ War H Won 5-3 Max Tcheyan got Summit off to a 1-0 lead on a first period goal but Bridgewater came back to take a 3-1 lead after two periods. Summit stormed back with a four goal third period to gain the win. Kenny Bodgen got the rally started at 42 seconds into the third by redirecting a Keith Schroeder shot into the net. Matt Starker tied the game on a slap shot at 10:44 and Jim Hatfield netted the game winner on a wrist shot from the high slot with 4:31 left in the game. Kyle Kramer added the empty net goal to ice the game. Keith Schroeder finished with three assists while Kyle Hartlaub made 17 saves in the net for Summit. 
Thu 02/07 3:45pWest Windsor North A Won 4-1 Coach Keith Nixon attained his 100th career win as the Summit High School Hockey head coach this afternoon. Summit dominated their opponent limiting them to nine shots on goal. Kyle Hartlaub stopped 8 of those 9 shots while the offense was provided by Rob Schroeder, Mike Tammaro, Matt Starker and Craig Oliver all of whom chipped in with a goal. 
Sun 02/10 West Essex Lost 4-3 Summit fell behind 3-0 after the first period and rallied behind two goals by Keith Schroeder and one by Mike Tammaro but their efforts in the final minutes fell short.
Mon 02/11 8:30pSt. Peters Prep @War H Won 5-2 Summit avenged an earlier season loss with dominating play leading to the win. Jim Hatfield scored on a power play slap shot from the point and Keith Schroeder added a short handed goal to give Summit a 2-1 lead after one period. Schroeder added another goal in the second and Mike Tammaro's goal in the third iced the game. Rob Schroeder added the empty netter. Kyle Hartlaub was strong in the net with 27 saves.
Tue 02/12 8:30pHudson Catholic @ War H Tie 6-6 Summit jumped out to a 3-1 lead mid way through the second period on goals by Craig Oliver, Keith Schroeder and Matt Starker. Hudson Catholic then scored 5 unanswered goals to take a 6-3 lead mid way through the third period. Summit fought back on goals by Kenny Bogden and Oliver to pull within one. With under a minute to go Kyle Hartlaub (31 saves) went to the bench in favor of a sixth skater. With time running out the puck went to Matt Starker at the right point. Starker fired a low shot on net and Oliver tipped it in to complete his hat trick and secure the tie with 4.4 seconds left in the game.
Mon 02/18 830PMSt. Peters League Tourn Warinanco Lost 2-1 (OT shootout) Strong goaltending by Kyle Hartlaub and a first period goal by Craig Oliver were the story last night. The game ended in a 1-1 tie and after a 10 minute scoreless overtime St Peters outscored Summit 2-0 in the shootout to advance in the league tournament.
Thu 02/21 Chatham Won 4-3 Craig Oliver's shorthanded goal in the third period proved to be the game winner as Summit completed its regular season with a win. Oliver, Matt Starker, Kenny Bogden and Rob Schroeder all contributed with a goal and an assist. Kyle Hartlaub and Dan Churchill combined for 15 saves in the net.
Tue 02/26830PMFair Lawn @ Warinanco Won 3-2 Summit advanced to the third round of the State Tournament with a hard fought 3-2 victory over Fairlawn. Summit outshot its opponent 36-14 but could only net three goals. Kyle Kramer, Craig Oliver and Jim Hatfield were the goal scorers and Matt Starker had three assists while Kyle Hartlaub was strong in the net with 12 saves.
Thu 02/28345PMMiddletown South Lost 5-2 The Summit icemen ran into a hot goalie and despite outshooting their opponent 35-22 fell in the third round of the State Tournament. Trailing 3-0 after two periods Summit staged a rally behind goals by Robbie Schroeder and Matt Starker but fell short when Middletown hit the empty net to seal the game.
