Chatham's Tom Paterek (4-0) effectively shut down the Summit offense, allowing only 3 hits. The game was played in continuous light rain that made crisp baseball difficult. Steve Bariexca, going for his 7th win of the season, pitched a much better game than the 6-1 score would lead you to believe. Except for a big defensive breakdown in the 5th and 6th innings, that yielded 4 unearned runs, this would have been viewed as a pitcher's duel.
Summit got its only run in the 6th inning when Bariexca got on via an error, went to 2nd on a wild pitch and scored on Paul Krupa's single.
Summit has one more game to play, against Mt. Olive (5/28 @ home)
