This was not a day for quality baseball. The temperature was in the mid 30s, the sky was overcast and there was moisture in the air. The pitchers struggled just to hang on to ball as they were throwing. It was to Jeff Johnson's credit that he managed to have survived five innings under these conditions. Gov. Livingston, on the other hand, went through 5 pitchers and never did find one able to find the plate under these game conditions. In fact, GL offered up 12 base on balls or hit batters over the 4 innings that Summit was at bat.

Summit built a 7-3 lead through 3 innings. But in the top of the 4th GL managed 4 runs on 3 walks and 3 hits to tie the game. In the bottom of the 4th Summit regained the lead with 7 runs when GL delivered 5 walks and hit one batter. A pair of doubles by Kevin McNeil and Jeff Della Piazza and a single Brad Dolny were enough to produce the 7 runs.

Mercifully, the game was called after 5 innings because of darkness.
