Summit ran into the best pitcher in the conference and possibly the best in North Jersey. D.J. Cunningham is a 6' 6" pitcher with a great fastball, a dangerous curve ball and a good slider. In other words, he has it all. He held Summit scoreless over the first six innings allowing only 2 singles. It wasn't until the 7th inning that Summit managed to get on the scoreboard. Back to back doubles by Paul Krupa and Jeff Della Piazza led to Summit's only runs. By then it was too late.
Cunningham struck out 12 Summit batters and gave up only 2 walks. Krupa pitched a better game than the score would indicate as he failed to get solid defensive support on a number of ocassions.
