Both teams had 10 hits, but Paul Krupa managed to spread Mendham's hits and limit them to 4 runs as he kept 11 runners stranded on base. Both teams picked up a run in the 1st inning. Kurpa got off to a rocky start giving up 3 successive singles and a walk that had the bases loaded, 1 run scored and only 1 out. He ended the threat by getting the DH to pop up and the next hitter to ground out. Summit's run came via a walk to Kevin McNeil, a single by Steve Bariexca and an error by the pitcher.

Summit added 5 more runs in the 2nd inning. Zach Barber started the inning with a single and moved to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by Noah Landau. All runners were safe on a McNeil fielder's choice and Bariexca singled to drive in Barber. A Krupa sacrifice fly then scored McNeil. Consecutive singles by Jeff Della Piazza, Jeff Johnson and Bryan Lawton brought home 3 more runs. Four more runs were scored in the 3rd inning. The bases were loaded by via a Landau single, an error on a McNeil ground ball and a walk to Bariexca. A single by Krupa drove in 2 runs and back to back sacrifice flies by Della Piazza and Johnson added 2 more. Summit's final run came in the 4th. Brad Dolny doubled to start the inning and he was driven in by a Barber single.
