Steve Bariexca had a real pitchers duel with Morris Hill's ace Dave McDonald. After a tough first inning where Morris Hills scored their only 2 runs, Bariexca shutdown Morris Hills with only 4 hits over the final 6 innings. Unfortunately, McDonald really handcuffed the Summit batters, allowing only 5 hits and striking out 13. Bariexca struck out 6 and was charged with a pair of walks, but they were both intentional walks to McDonald, Morris Hill's cleanup hitter.
Summit's best chance to score came in the 6th inning. Jeff Della Piazza stroked a two out double, Paul Krupa singled and a wild pitch put the tieing runs on 2nd and 3rd. Brad Dolny hit a sharp line drive that looked like a sure single but the 1st baseman made a great catch to end the inning.
