Summit caught a break and scored a run in the bottom of the 8th inning to survive a late rally by Parsippany Hills. Summit was up by 4 runs starting the 6th inning but Par Hills pushed across 2 run in each of the last two inning to tie the game. They were aided by some questionable defensive play by the Hilltoppers. In the top of 8th Par Hills looked like they were headed for another big inning when the 7,8 hitters led off with a double followed by a single. That put runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs. Paul Krupa rose to the occasion forcing a ground ball which he handled for out number one. He then struck out the next batter and got the final batter to ground out to the second baseman. In the Summit 8th Kevin McNeil started things off with a single and moved to 2nd on a nice sacrifice bunt by Steve Bariexca. He advanced to 3rd on a fly ball to center and scored when Krupa's hard hit ground ball went through the 1st baseman's legs.

It looked like it might be a big offensive day for Summit in the 3rd inning. With 1 out Jeff Della Piazza got things going with a solo home run, the first over summit's new outfield fence. This was followed by 3 successive doubles by Evan Cheng, Brad Dolny and Bryan Lawton that netted 3 runs. Summit picked up a 4th run in the next inning when Bariexca drew walk, stole 2nd and scored on Krupa's double. Par Hills came roaring back with 3 runs off a walk, a single and a home run.

Summit reestablished a 4 run advantage in their part of the 4th inning. Lawton led off with his 2nd double of the game. Ryan Mahoney singled and McNeil walked to load the bases. Bariexca's single scored one run. A fly ball to left by Jeff Johnson would have been a sacrifice fly except for the fact that the runner from 3rd got a late start and was tagged out at home. A walk to Krupa and a single by Della Piazza resulted in 2 more runs before the inning was over, with Summit ahead 7-3.

Starting in the 5th inning Par Hills brought in a relief pitcher. He completely handcuffed the Summit batters, allowing only 3 hits over the final 4 innings and only 1 unearned run. Krupa picked up his second win of the season.
