This was the best Weequahic squad Summit has played since it joined the Iron Hills Conference. In past meetings Summit usually had a big lead by the end of the 2nd inning. That was not true today and in fact the game was tied 2-2 entering the 4th inning. For the first time Weequahic carried the game beyond the 5th inning before the 10 run rule applied.

The other big news was that Eric Smith made his pitching debut. He pitched a fine 3 hitter, striking out 11 and issuing only 2 walks. He was very impressive from the start as he threw only 11 in the first inning and 10 of them were strikes. He allowed only 2 unearned runs and they came in the 3rd inning when a pair of errors coupled with the only two walks he gave up allowed Weequahic their runs without getting any hits.

Paul Krupa led the hitting, going 3 for 4 with a double. Jeff Della Piazza had a double, 2 walks and was hit by the pitcher.
