where Summit turned the ball over on downs. At the beginning of the 2nd quarter Dover mounted a 13 play drive that ran out of gas at the Summit 45 yard line. The half ended 0-0.

Dover received the 2nd half kickoff and marched from their own 22 to the Summit 39. Fortunately, Steve Kohut intercepted a Dover pass and returned it to Summit's 37. A Summit penalty moved the ball back to the 20 yard line. A six yard run by Tony Johnson was sandwiched between Robbie Schroeder's passes to Dwayne Reid of 40 and 25 yards. Pierce Talbot then ran the final 9 yards for the score and Freshman Will Gruetzmacher kept his perfect PAT record intact. Summit's other score came in the 4th quarter following a Dover punt. Johnson began the drive with a long flea-flicker, but the receiver was ruled to have had his foot on the out-of-bounds line. Johnson made up for the call by racing 40 yards on the next play to give Summit a 1st down on the Dover 17. Schroeder ran to the 10 and Johnson picked up the 1st down on the 6 yard line. On the next play Johnson took the ball in for the score. Again, Gruetzmacher added the extra point.

Summit was playing without the services of Jeff Della Piazza who was injured in the Parsippany Hills game. Della Piazza was dressed for the game but was saved for the playoffs. Johnson stepped up to carry the rushing chores and picked up 123 yards in 17 carries.
