However, no one anticipated that Summit would totally dominate them on both offense and defense. For example, in the first half of play Summit held Mendham to a total of 36 yards of offense and 1 first down while Summit racked up13 first downs and 254 yards of offense. It was an awesome performance on both sides of the ball. In fact, until Summit began substituting heavily in the 4th quarter Mendham had gained only 63 yards. The biggest offensive difference over Summit's first two games was in the passing department. In spite of a stiff wind, Robbie Schroeder connected on 9 of his 11 passes and the receivers held on to the ball.

After fumbling away its first possession, Summit drove 54 yards in 10 play to take a 7-0 lead. The drive featured the running of Jeff Della Piazza and a pair of passes, one to Dwayne Reid and the other to John McGhee. Schroeder ran the final 2 yards for the score and Evan Cheng added the extra point. Summit's next possession started by recovering a fumble on the Mendham 40 yard line. Six plays later Summit was in the end zone. A 21 yard pass to Dwight Reid and a 13 yard screen pass to Della Piazza were keys to the drive. Della Piazza ran the ball in from the 1 yard line. Summit's next possession began on their 28 yard line but ended on the Mendham 3 yard line when a 4th down play wound up inches short of a 1st down. However, a short punt by Mendham gave Summit the ball on Mendham's 43 yard line. A pair of passes to Dwight Reid covered the entire distance to put Summit ahead 20-0 following Cheng's extra point.

The 2nd half began much like the 1st had ended. Suumit took the ball on their first possession and scored in 6 plays. The drive was highlighted be a 13 yard screen pass to Della Piazza and a 14 yarder to Dwayne Reid. The score came on a pitch out to Tony Johnson who threw a perfect strike to Dwayne Reid in the end zone. Cheng's extra point made the score 27-0. Mendham managed their only score in the 4th quarter after the starters had left the field.
