Summit came from behind in the second half to make Coach DiGrande's debut a great success. After being held to only 57 1st half yards on the ground, things looked a bit bleak offensively. Fortunately the defense played a solid 1st half giving up only one TD on a 9 play/44 yard drive in the 2nd quarter. The 2nd half was another matter.

On the first play from scrimmage Morris Hills turned the ball over on a fumble at their 31 yard line. Three runs by Jeff Della Piazza made a 1st down at the 20. Brad Dolny moved the ball to the 16 and Tony Johnson took the ball in from there. Evan Cheng's extra point kick went wide, but Summit was back in the ball game. After an exchange of punts, Morris Hills was again forced to punt from their 27 yard line. It went off the side of the punter's foot and out of bounds at the Morris Hills 46 yard line. A penalty moved the ball back to Summit's 45 yard line. On the next play Dwayne Reid took a reverse for 20 yards and a 1st down at the MH 35. Two runs by Della Piazza and a pass to John McGhee made it 4th and one at the 26. Della Piazza bulled his way to the 21 to keep the drive alive. Runs by Della Piazza and Schroeder picked up another 1st down at the 10. A run by Dolny and a penalty on Morris Hills put the ball on the 4 and Della Piazza carried it in from there. Summit went for two points and Keith Schroeder ran it in to make the score 14-7 to start the 4th quarter.

Morris hills appeared to be moving the ball well and had a 1st down at their 40. After two running plays gained only 3 yards, they tried a pitch out. Pierce Talbot swept in and picked off the pitch out and carried it unmolested into the end zone 43 yards away. Cheng's extra point kick was perfect. There were still about 10 minutes to play so things remained tense. On the next series Morris Hill drove from their 25 to a 1st down at Summit's 20 yard line (aided by a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty on Summit). The defense rose to the occassion and sacked their quarterback twice to end the threat. Morris Hills had one more possession but again two sacks ended everything. All totalled Summit's defense sacked Morris Hills 5 times in the 2nd half.
