127 total yards and a measly 6 points while Summit rang up 26 points and 277 total yards. This victory put Summit in a 3-way tie for 1st place in the conference. They are tied with Mt. Olive and West Essex with 4-1 records.

The 1st quarter set the tone defensively as West Essex went 3 and out on each of its 3 possessions and failed to make a single 1st down. On their 2nd possession West Essex's punter got a bad snap from center and in a frantic effort to salvage the situation lost the ball. James Ogureck grabbed the fumble and bulled his way 20 yards into the end zone to give Summit the lead. On West Essex's next possession Summit again forced a punt which gave the Hilltoppers the ball on the WE 46 yard line. Unfortunately, on the next play Robbie Schroeder's pass went off the receiver's finger tips and was popped up in the air and intercepted. West Essex took over on their 35 yard line and mounted their only successful drive of the day that was aided by having a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty tacked onto a routine 4 yard gain. The teams left the field tied 6-6.

West Essex took the 2nd half kick off on their 30, but was unable to move the ball and a weak punt gave Summit possession on the West Essex 49 yard line. On Summit's first play of the half Jeff Della Piazza ran through the whole West Essex team, breaking tackles and dragging tacklers for 49 yards and a TD. Evan Cheng added the extra point and Summit never looked back. After forcing another punt, Summit had the ball at mid-field. Della Piazza took it to the 48 yard line and on the next play Schroeder ran the remaining 48 yards on a QB draw play. Cheng again added the PAT and Summit had a 20-6 lead. Summit's final score came in the 4th quarter on a 53 yard drive that had to overcome a Summit procedure penalty and a holding penalty. The drive was highlighted by 5 completed passes. Two to Dwight Reid (including the final 15 yard TD pass)and one each to Dwayne Reid, Tony Johnson and Steve Kohut.

The depth of Summit's receivers was hightlighted by the fact that the 9 completed passes were caught by 7 different players.
