Hanover Park took a 7-1 record into this game but was overwhelmed by Summit's aggressive defense. Summit forced many turnovers and transition points. The 1st quarter scoring was provided by Alex Sprinzen (7 pts), Dwayne Reid(6 pts) and Wellington Smith (4 pts). Summit out scored Hanover Park in every quarter and was ahead by 17 points at the half. In 2nd half Dwight Reid had the hot hand as he poured in 16 points.
Sprinzen had a fine shooting night hitting on 9 of 12 shots for a game high 19 points. Smith continued to be a major force in the paint as he blocked shots and led the rebounding with seven. He also had a personal season high total of 14 points The Reid twins continue to be impressive on defense and combined for 32 points on offense (Dwight with 18 and Dwayne with 14).
Andrew Stegara (12 pts) and Tom Maguire (10 pts) led the Hornets.
This game was unusual in that there were only 9 free throws in the entire game. Hanover Park was 2 for 2 and Summit was 3 for 7.
