Summit came out in good shape on Saturday and put up a respectable first quarter. They struggled in the second quarter however, and were only able to put 3 points up on the board. They showed improvement in the second half only losing it by one point, but missed several short range jumpers that could've kept this game closer. Summit's JV squad put together a great first quarter jumping ahead of Millburn 10-3. Millburn rebounded closing the gap and headed into halftime only down 2 points. The game remained close in the second half as Summit went 6-7 from the line and even took a 1 point lead about midway through the fourth quarter. Millburn showed great patience on offense and regained the lead which forced Summit to foul to regain possession of the ball. They had several opportunities to close the gap, but were just unable to convert the shots. Jess Novo led all scorers with 8, Allison Cahott dropped in 6 and Betsy Congdon contributed 4. Summit's JV squad enters county tournament play on Tuesday at Elizabeth 4pm.
