Summit's JV squad started off slow tonite going 0-10 from the field in the first, but were able to hold the bigger and faster Par Hills team to 4 points in the first quarter. They turned on the offense in the second working the ball around the 1-2-2 zone and entered the half down 10-9. The third quarter was huge for Summit as they equalled their second quarter effort while holding their opponent to only 2 points. They entered the fourth hungry for the win, but had trouble breaking the full court press. They had two unfortunate turnovers that were converted to points and brought Par Hills back ahead in this game. With about a minute to play, Summit needed a bucket to tie. They worked the ball around with several good looks, but were unable to convert the basket. Par. Hills came down the court, but Summit's Jaki Sanchez wasn't ready to retire, she stole the ball about foul line extended, saw the 5 seconds remaining on the clock, dribbled down the floor and pulled up for the three to win it. It looked like it was in, but bounced off the back of the rim just prior to the buzzer. Summit was led by Caitlin Lackaye with 8 points, 9 rebounds, Jess Novo and Allison Cahott who each contributed 6 points and a great defensive game by Jaki Sanchez with 10 boards and 4 steals. They finish their season on Thursday at Dover.
