The JV Squad got off to their worst start of the season, perhaps feeling too overconfident after their big victory over Parsippany. After scoring only 3 points in the first half, the Lady Hilltoppers were only 9 points down thanks to their outstanding defensive effort in the second quarter, allowing only 3 points. In the second half, the JV Squad played the way it should've played early in the game and outscored W. Essex 20-14 in the final half of the game. Angela Marchell was the unstoppable force for Summit, scoring 7 of the 11 4th quarter points for Summit, including 5 of 6 from the foul-line in the quarter. Summit had two opportunities to tie the game but missed on 2 straight possessions in the last minute. With 5 seconds left in the game, W. Essex missed 2 foul-shots and Jaki Sanchez pushed the ball up the floor looking for the 3. Jaki tried to connect with Angela with 2 seconds remaining but the pass was deflected and time expired before Summit could get the shot off.
