Tue 12/3 630PM Morristown Beard @WAR Lost 7-0 The girls hockey club opened its 2002-03 campaign against powerhouse Morristown-Beard. After a close first period (1-0) the Lady Hilltoppers could not control the firepower of their opponent falling 7-0. Katie Starker made 35 saves in net for Summit.
Sun 12/15 Beacon Hill Lost 4-2 Trailing 3-0 after two periods the lady hilltoppers staged a comeback but fell short losing 4-2. Sarah Baker scored both Summit goals on assists from Taylor Tammaro and Abby Breene. Katie Starker stopped 29 shots in net.
Sun 12/22 450PM Quarry Cats@FH Lost 4-1 Summit jumped out to an early lead on a goal by Abby Breene off a rebound of a Sarah Baker shot and lead at the end of one period 1-0. The Quarry Cats rallied for two goals in each of the final two periods to seal the win. Katie Starker made 30 saves in net for the Lady Hilltoppers.
Mon 12/23 830PM New Jersey Devils @WAR Lost 3-0 Sarah Baker, Abby Breene and Melissa Natale applied the offensive pressure but could not break through for Summit. Sara Bowman and Beth Starker were solid on defense and Katie Starker made 29 saves in net.
Wed 1/8 345PM Pingry @BSA Won 5-1 The Lady Hilltoppers recorded the first win in the two year history of the program with a 5-1 decision over Pingry. After falling behind 1-0 early in the first the Summit skaters dominated the remainder of the game outshooting their opponent 46-14. Katie Starker made several key saves in the Summit goal to keep the game close as the offense could not find the net and the score remained 1-0 after two periods. Early in the third period while on a power play Melissa Natale redirected a shot by Beth Starker and it found the twine tying the game. Carla Carpenter then netted the gamewinner on an unassisted wrap around shot. Sarah Bowman and Taylor Tammaro both converted on full ice rushes and Sarah Baker connected on a pass from Abby Breene to cap the scoring.
Sat 1/13 5PM Quarry Cats @USA
Wed 1/15 Beacon Hill Won 4-3 Melissa Natale scored the game winning goal with 2:05 left in the third period snapping a 3-3 tie. Summit had jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the strength of goals by Abby Breene, Taylor Tammaro and Sarah Bowman. With the help of some power plays Beacon Hill fought back to tie the game midway through the third period setting up Natale' s heroics. Katie Starker stopped 23 shots in net to gain her second victory in a row.
Fri 1/24 4PM Princeton @USA Lost 2-0 After a scoreless first period the visiting Tigers scored 2 goals to take the lead. The Lady Hilltoppers staged a valiant rally to try and even the game up but despite the hard work of Sarah Baker, Abby Breene, Melissa Natale,Shante Cofield, Beth Dickey, Carla Carpenter and Jackie Grabowski the puck did not find the net. Summit's effort was represented in the shot totals as they outshot their opponent 16-14.
Sat 1/25 1PM Hill School @Hill School Arena Lost 4-0 After getting off to a slow start and trailing after one period 3-0 the Lady Hilltoppers stepped up their game and except for a power play goal in the second period played their opponent even the rest of the way. Sarah Baker , Abby Breene and Melissa Natale generated the scoring chances while Sarah Bowman, Beth Starker and Kristen Dinsmore on defense supported Katie Starker (24 saves) in goal.
Wed 2/5 5PM Pingry @USA Won 3-1 The Lady Hilltoppers got off to a fast start behind goals by Taylor Tammaro, Abby Breene and Sarah Baker to lead by 3-0 after two periods. Katie Starker (22 saves) came close to getting the shutout but Pingry scored on a deflection with 1:22 left in the game.
Sun 2/9 1015AM New Jersey Devils @BA Lost 3-0 The Lady Hilltoppers fell behind early and trailed 3-0 after one period but then stepped up their intensity and played their opponent even for the remainder of the game. Katie Starker had 23 saves in net.

Wed 2/12 515PM Rye Country Day @Rye Country Day Lost 5-3 Melissa Natale connected for the hat trick leading the Hilltoppers offensive charge as they rallied back from an early 2-0 deficit. Carla Carpenter, Beth Starker and Jackie Grabowski assisted on Natale's goals. Katie Starker made 29 saves.
