In an unusual move, Summit's game with Dover was moved from Dover to Memorial Field and played at 3:15 PM in order to accommodate Summit's prom night. As a result Summit entered the top of the 7th as the "visiting team", holding a slim 4-3 lead. Summit was in need of an insurance run and got it when Dover's starter walked Brad Dolny and Kyle Dobiszewski and then hit Matt Zackoff and Matt Fields. This left the bases loaded, one out and a new pitcher on the mound. The new pitcher was met by 4 consecutive hits. Zach Barber doubled and Eric Smith, Jeff Johnson and Jeff Della Piazza each singled. The result was 5 more runs crossing the plate. Dolny, coming up for the 2nd time in the inning, drove in another run with a ground out. The explosion ended with pinch hitter Anthony Delle Donne's RBI single. So Summit entered the bottom of the 7th with a comfortable 12-3 lead.
Earlier, Summit picked up a run in the 2nd inning when Dobiszewski singled, stole 2nd and scored on an error. Another run came in the 3rd inning as a result of a leadoff double by Smith and a single by Della Piazza. In the 4th inning Zach Barber was walked, stole second and scored on a single by Smith. Matt Fields singled in the 6th, Smith was walked and Johnson doubled to score Fields.
