Summit's chance of qualifying for the State Tournament took a hit as Morris Hills put Summit 2 games below .500. Summit now must win the remaining 2 games before the Friday evening cutoff date. The task was made more difficult because over the weekend fluid had to drained from Kevin McNeil's knee. He could be on the disabled list for 10 days.

Morris Hills jumped all over Jeff Johnson in the 1st inning, scoring 3 runs via 3 singles and a home run. Summit answered with 1 run in the bottom of the first. Johnson began his big hitting day with a triple and scored on Brad Dolny's double. Johnson eventually went 4 for 4 including 2 singles a triple and a home run.

Morris Hills picked up another run in the 2nd inning via a solo home run. The real damage occurred in the Morris Hills 3rd inning. Morris Hills added 6 unearned runs to put Summit in a 10-1 hole. The inning began with a walk and the next batter struck out. A routine ground ball resulted in a error and that was followed by a line drive to Eric Smith that otherwise would have ended the inning. Morris Hills took advantage of the reprieve with a double that scored 2 runs. Another Summit error kept the inning alive. Eventually, Morris Hills tallied 6 runs.

Johnson grew stronger over the final 4 innings, allowing no runs and only 2 hits. Summit's best offensive inning came in the bottom of the 7th. Alex Fischer and Matt D'Ecclessis started the inning with back to back singles. After a strike out and a fielder's choice, Johnson capped his big hitting day with a 3 run home run. If only earned runs counted it would have been a 4-4 tie.
