A game with Weequahic is usually not very exciting. Summit has yet to lose a game to Weequahic. This game was not in serious doubt entering the top of the 5th. Summit was ahead by 11 runs and the main question was could Summit prevent Weequahic from scoring 2 runs and thus end the game after this half inning due to the 10 run rule.

The first 2 Weequahic batters were issued walks. Thereby putting the dreaded 2 runs on base with no outs. This set up led to a play that no one in the Summit stands had ever seen at Summit, a triple play. The next Weequahic batter hit a sharp line drive down the 3rd base line. Kyle Dobiszewski made a great leaping catch, whirled and threw to Alex Fischer, catching the runner at second off base. Fischer turned and threw to Matt Zackoff at 1st catching the runner at 1st off base. A beautifully executed triple play, Dobiszewski to Fischer to Zackoff, game over!

Matt Fields and Matt D'Ecclessis shared the pitching duties with Fields pitching the first 3 innings and D'Ecclessis thowing the last two. They each allowed only one hit, but combined for 10 walks and 2 hit batters.
