The final points of the quarter came after Pierce Talbot intercepted a pass on the Summit's 45 and returned it to the Hanover Park 17 yard line. A pass to Brad Dolny covered 16 yards to the 1 yard line and Copperthite took the ball in to cap a 28 point quarter.

Fortunately, Summit responded by driving 65 yards in 8 plays. Summit moved the ball to a 1st down at the Hanover Park 41 yard line on the running of Jeff Della Piazza, Talbot and Copperthite. Then at 3rd and 10 Schroeder again connected with Dwayne Reid on a 41 yard TD pass. Hanover Park came right back with a 10 play 96 yard drive and the score was 35-14. The ensuing on-side kick was almost successful, but Summit came up with the ball. Hanover Park's final score came with about 2 minutes left in the game. They completed 5 passes to go 58 yards for a TD. Again they tried an on-side kick, which appeared to be successful, but the referees ruled that Hanover Park had touched the ball before it had gone the required 10 yards.
