Summit failed to capitalize on a pair of great scoring opportunities in the 1st half and left the field with a scoreless tie. The first opportunity came when Summit recovered a fumble on the Morris Hills 23 yard line. Three plays gave Summit a 1st down on the 10 yard line but the drive ended when an attemped field goal was fumbled. The second chance came after Summit had driven from its 24 yard line to the Morris Hills 34, mostly by way of a pair of passes to Dwight Reid. On 3rd down Brad Dolny took a pass from Rob Schroeder and bulled his way to the 1 yard line. A pair of running plays up the middle failed and time ran out in the half.

Summit kicked off to begin the 2nd half and got a great lift when Dwight Reid miskicked the football. The kick went off the side of his foot and acted like an on-side kick. The surprised Morris Hills team failed to cover the ball and Summit ended up with the ball at the Morris Hills 40 yard line. This time the pumped up Summit squad went all the way. The key plays being a QB keeper by Schroeder and a 25 yard TD pass to Daryl Toney. Will Gruetzmacherz kicked the 1st of his 3 extra point. After stopping Morris Hills Summit got the ball again on their own 26 yard line. Passes to Dwayne Reid, Dwight Reid and Toney moved the ball to the Morris Hills 3 yard line Schroeder scored on a QB Sneak. Morris Hills' only score of the day came after they connected on a 52 yard pass play that put the ball on Summit's 13 yard line. Morris Hills finally had to settle for a field goal. Summit's final scoring drive began with an interception by Dwight Reid that was returned to the Morris Hills 36. On the next play Schroeder hit the other member of the Reid family with a 36 yard TD pass.
