Summit started their next drive from the Summit 30 yard line. A pass to Dwayne Reid moved it to the 43 yard line. Two running plays put the ball on the 49 and Rob Schroeder hit Dwayne Reid again and he picked up a 1st down on Mt. Olive's 15. On 3rd down Schroeder connected with Brad Dolny for a TD and Will Gruetzmacher kicked the first of his 5 extra points.
Summit finally held Mt. Olive, forced a punt, and gained good field position on their 41 yard line. Jeff Della Piazza picked up 8 yards and Pierce Talbot 3 to get a 1st down at the 30 yard line. On the next play Dwight Reid took a pass from Schroeder and scored. Gruetzmacher's kick gave Summit its 1st lead at 14-13. On the very next possession Summit moved to a 1st down on the 13 yard line behind the running of Dell Piazza and receptions by Dwayne and Dwight Reid. . Schroeder scored on a QB keeper and Summit left the field up 21-13 at the half.
The 2nd half also didn't start well. Mt. Olive drove from their 28 to the Summit 16 yard line before turning over the ball on downs. Unfortunately Summit stalled and was forced to punt from their 12 yard line. Mt. Olive got the ball on Summit's 37 and in one play connected with a wide open receiver for a TD. They were successful with a two point conversion and suddenly the game was tied at 21 all. Fortunately, the rest of the game was all Summit. The Hilltoppers took the kickoff and went 80 yards in 11 plays to go ahead for good. The drive featured the running of Della Piazza, Arthur Copperthite and Schroeder along with 4 fine receptions by Dwight Reid. Schroeder covered the final 3 yards on a QB sneak. Summit's final score came after they recovered a fumble on the Mt. Olive 38. An 18 yard pass to Dwight Reid and a 16 yard run by Della Piazza made it first and goal at the 5 yard line. From there Schroeder hit Copperthite for the final score.
Summit was playing with out the injured Daryl Toney and , in the 2nd half, without Dwayne Reid who was injured late in the 1st half. Dwayne spent most of the 2nd half lobbying everyone he could find to put him back in the game, but cooler heads prevailed.
